 NO Fleas Market, a resale shop benefitting animal welfare, is currently looking for donations of clothing in good condition. They will be located at 4934 Tchopitoulas St. 


Isabella’s Gallery will host a Mother’s Day trunk show May 7th and 8th  from 10am-6pm.

-LSU student organization Hemline will present its fourth annual “Evolve” fashion show.  The group is dedicated to increasing fashion creativity and awareness among students and the Baton Rouge community. The show will be held May 20th at 7pm in the Lyceum Ballroom and will showcase student work. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

  • If you’re on the Northshore on Saturday, March 20th sit in on “Toolbox Divas with Becky Burt from 10am-5pm.  The class shows participants how to make jewelry out of common hardware store items. Admission is $100, $90 for members plus a $10 fee for supplies.
  • Spring cleaning? Head to Buffalo Exchange to sell what you don’t wear and buy some new (to you) items. Just check their website to see what they are looking for.
  • SHOP on Magazine St. is closing their doors at the end of March. All merchandise will be on clearance until they close.

I’m back from my beautiful San Francisco trip and getting tattooed (locally). While I’m getting over a cold and foot swelling enjoy this week’s roundup of news, just in time for the weekend.

  • Belladonna Day Spa is now offering Minx manicures and pedicures. Minx is a flexible film application that can be customized with graphics, metallic colors, and photo quality designs. 
  • Broad Street Bazaar is having its monthly market this Saturday, March 13th from 11:00am-4:00pm. Jewelry, health screenings, and food vendors of just some of the offerings.
  • Swap your kicks and hear some hip hop at the Kicks & Snares event at the Howlin’ Wolf this Saturday from 3:00pm-$8:00pm. The $10 cover gets you into the sneaker exchange and features more than 25 artists.
  • “Extraordinary Women” is the theme of Project Red Light’s fifth annual fashion show featuring fashions from The Villa, The Red Carpet, and The Edge. The show takes place on Thursday, March 18th at 5:00pm at Benedict’s Plantation in Mandeville, LA. There will be live entertainment, martini bar, and live and silent auctions. Proceeds go to the Project Light Foundation and the $50 tickets can be purchased at Buzy Bodies in Mandeville and Covington.

New Orleans Surf Shop recently changed their name to Local Threads. The shop now features t-shirts designed by the owners and is also taking men’s clothes on consignment.

Bridge House is sponsoring a recycled fashion show Friday, Feb. 26th at 8:00pm at the Howlin’ Wolf. Expect food from 17 New Orleans restaurants, a raffle, and a VIP pre-party one hour before the show.




Don’t forget about the InExchange fashion show also on Friday, February 26th  and the Alegria fashion show benefiting the LASPCA on Sunday, Feb 28th.

  • The Ogden Museum of Southern Art is conducting a 4 week long jewelry making class. Jewelry Making 101 will be taught by New Orleans’ own Vitrice McMurray, an award winning jewelry designer. Students will learn basic techniques like wire bending, piercing, filing and finishing. Register by Tuesday, January 5th to reserve your spot.
