Mannequin Mondays

So as y’all have probably noticed I’m fairly consistent in my inconsistency. I haven’t posted a Mannequin Monday in quite a while but after reading this sweet post on Hattie Spark’s A Moment of Forever blog about how Mannequin Mondays are her favorite posts I’ve decided to try to do these more often.
That said this was taken at Hemline on Magazine St.
I love the crane blouse on the right, which reminds me of the Prada pieces that featured cats and swallows. The open, drapey cardigan on the left is still a hit from last fall since it is so chic and easy to wear. This is a perfect piece for the south since the weather changes so much in the course of the day. Wear one with a tank top now, then layer it up under a jacket when it gets even cooler.

Mannequin Mondays

This week we’re going back to the French Quarter for Mannequin Mondays. Hemline has more locations than I can count, with three in the New Orleans area alone. I’ve only been to the New Orleans uptown and downtown shops. Both locations are similar but have enough slight differences  that make them unique.

Make sure you stop at a location nearest you or visit them online.

Mannequin Mondays

It’s time for another Mannequin Monday! I got the opportunity to hang out with my sister this Friday and we packed in a lot. Now don’t be hatin’ but the day started off with lunch at Restaurant August (met John Besh!) and was followed by stopping in a few shops, checking out the Pharmacy Museum (amazing), hitting up Rubenstein’s for the Gonola.com men’s makeover contest and dancing the night away to DJ Rusty Lazer at The Saint. Whew!
So somehow I managed to squeeze in photos of the cute display at Langford Market, a boutique on Decatur St. that focuses on trendy, affordable clothes. These outfits are simple and easy without being boring. If you can handle walking around the French Quarter in this heat check out the goodies they have in stock.

Mannequin Mondays

With the fourth of July next week I thought I’d set the mood with these red, white, and blue mannequin displays from Buffalo Exchange.

Whether y’all are celebrating our nation’s independence or just enjoying an extra day off there are ways to revel without looking like Betsy Ross picked out your outfit. Buffalo employees Alanna Zaritz and Elijah Bradshaw demonstrate that celebration and chic can go hand in hand with these festive displays.

Mannequin Mondays

I haven’t done a Mannequin Monday in a loooong time so I figured I’d resurrect it.
Funky Monkey is a local vintage clothing store that has these great big windows and always uses them to their advantage. I remember when this store was just a solitary room but they expanded some time ago into a men’s and women’s section with separate entrances for each.
Women’s side- I love the green sequin anchor dress thrown in with the summer appropriate accessories
Men’s side- The vintage Honda tee is amazing and check out that mullet wig.

Mannequin Mondays

I’ve often said that when I hit the lottery (too bad I’ve never bought a ticket) I’d wear ball gowns to do the most menial chores like washing the dishes and vacuuming. Well when that time comes this would be my first pick.

Mannequin Mondays

Now that Halloween is finally over I have more time to dedicate to updating the blog. This week’s Mannequin Monday features displays from the New Orleans  Buffalo Exchange. As always sorry about the less than professional pictures. I’m a terrible photographer.

Mannequin Mondays

This week’s mannequin was spotted in the window of Trashy Diva, a shop that specializes in vintage looks. I love how the dress remains the centerpiece but is accented by the colors in the hearts and paper lanterns. And what’s not to love about Day of the Dead paraphernalia?
Check it out for yourself at their Lower Garden District location:
