Last week I was asked to be a guest on It’s New Orleans, an online radio station with a slew of interesting programs. Every week they do a show called Happy Hour that highlights intriguing people in the city. I had a lot of fun talking about Marrero (ahh suburbia), Slow Southern Style, and my long standing love for fashion. I also played flute in front of an audience for the first time in about 9 years- that’s what I get for listing it as a hobby in my bio. I’ve already picked apart my 1.5 minute performance and noted every single flaw, but you be the judge. Listen to the show online by clicking here.

This it it y’all. September is nearly upon us and the lazy days of summer have been hitting me hard. Maybe it’s the biblical amount of rain we’ve had, coupled with intense heat and humidity but I’ve been savoring my downtime. Weekends have been spent watching documentaries, hanging out with friends, and catching up on forgotten issues of National Geographic. September brings a road trip, a wedding, and preliminary plans for Halloween costumes. Yea, that’ll be here before you know it.

Fashion’s Night Out was this Thursday at Saks Fifth Avenue and I was thrilled that Slow Southern Style was featured in the blogger lounge. The night was filled with DJs on all three floors, a fun fashion scavenger hunt, running into familiar faces, drooling over beautiful clothes, and lots of champagne.

Chanel of Chanel Craves is without a doubt one of my favorite Southern Fashion Bloggers. She’s always so perfectly put together, pretty, and she laughs at my dumb jokes. Her boyfriend looked equally well put together as well!
Speaking of Chanel….
Samantha from Feet First! Samantha did a guest post on Slow Southern Style so it was a real pleasure to finally meet her in person. This picture is a hoot, note that she is squatting and I’m standing on tip toes and she is still taller than me.
I finally met cutie pie Dalton of the Warehouse District and his mom. They were so nice! |
Plenty of Marc Jacobs to ogle |
Sweet Slow Southern Style reader Kasimu came out to Saks after hearing me talk about it on Twitter AND he was the best dressed gentleman of the night. I just love a guy that can sport a bow tie and a pocket square!
Big thanks to all of my friends that came to hang out, I had a blast chatting with y’all and hope to see each and every one of you again soon. For additional pictures from the evening be sure to check out the Facebook page.
One of the things that I enjoy most about summer is packing away my constricting closed toe shoes for a few months and giving my tootsies some room to breathe. I love these wooden wedges that I recently purchased, they feel less clunky and heavy than my normal “goes with everything” black heels. Taupe is such a great shade to complement a variety of pieces in my summer wardrobe so I know I’ll get a lot of use out of these.
Check out the other lovely Southern Fashion Bloggers for their favorite sandals and what they will be wearing all summer long.

I’m rather excited to give y’all a sneak peek of what I will be wearing for a bloggers feature in the Times Picayune! Every month the newspaper puts out a monthly style magazine Wish and I’m thrilled to be featured in it for a second time! Along with five other bloggers I will be sharing my must have summer items and I can’t wait to see the final product in July.
The past three Saturdays in a row have been great fun for me. From a stroll in historical gardens, to a day in the French Quarter followed by a trek down Freret Street I’ve been making it a point to get out and enjoy some sunshine before the heat and humidity become unbearable which will be any minute now.
A few of the ladies from the Southern Fashion Bloggers got together three weeks ago for a Fashionable Frolic through Longue Vue, a historical home and gardens located in Old Metairie. The weather was perfect and it was really a good excuse for an all girls get together with gorgeous weather.
