Saks will essentially be hosting a triple threat party that evening with a different themed stylish soiree on every floor quipped with DJs,  specialty cocktails, and fun interactive media events all night long. In conjunction all guests will be eligible to win a $2,000 shopping spree via StyleList. Participants just need to pull together outfits based on the weekly challenge and the participant that receives the most viewer votes wins. Armoire Anniversary Party

When Erin, the owner of Armoire, asked me to model for a private party celebrating her boutique’s one year anniversary I couldn’t say no. I met Erin at my own place of work and we also have a mutual friend. Not only is she sweet but she stocks great pieces at affordable prices and I love that she carries plus sizes and most of the inventory is available to shop online as well!

My partner in crime Leslie from UNMADE.

Leslie did my makeup for me too!

I love how the earrings perfectly compliment the dress without being too matchy matchy.

And many thanks to the Paris Parker team for doing the hair and makeup for the show. I was astonished with how quickly they whipped out these pretty unkempt braids. The Prytania Street team makes it seem so easy!

To see more pictures from the evening check out Armoire’s Facebook photo album. Congrats again Erin and here’s to many more years!

Back to School Looks on WWL TV

Look y’all I can’t lie it takes a lot for me to get up at 5:30 A.M. but when my friend Missy Wilkinson from the Gambit asked me to style some back to school looks featuring items from Buffalo Exchange I knew it would be worth jumping out of bed for. Check out the behind the scenes photos below and watch the entire video on WWL by clicking here.

Myself, Elijah, Melvet, and Kenisha

Kenisha, me, Melvet

Cute as a button Kaci, check out her accessory line on Etsy!

Kenisha’s pants are a good alternative to wearing sweats to school
Pretending I’m  college age & that I didn’t do that pedicure the night before

High school looks, these kids were cooler than me in high school scratch that cooler than I am now

Also big thanks to the models, Missy Wilkinson, and the WWL TV staff. I’d also like to point out that all but two were Buffalo Exchange employees and Melvet and Elijah styled their own outfits.

What I Wore- Amelie G MidSummer Party

Here in the South a lot of us practice a reverse hibernation. Instead of snow days we get intense rain and heat but unfortunately those aren’t reasons to get to stay home from work. Instead most of our social calenders are lightened and indulging in air conditioning becomes top priority. I did however find a reason to get dressed up last night thanks to the Amelie G Midsummer Jet Set Party at the Ogden Museum.

Amelie G is a New Orleans fashion magazine that recently gained a national distribution at Barnes & Noble and Hastings and can be purchased at other places around town. They have monthly online magazines and a quarterly print edition. This was my first time attending one of their events and it was sort of a who’s who in the small yet growing New Orleans fashion scene. I had fun running into old friends and meeting new ones.
I didn’t take as many photos as I would have liked, which is normally the case. I usually end up enjoying myself and forget to snap some shots. You can check out the rest of the photos by clicking here.

Wig Party at Eiffel Society

Y’all know that I love a good wig. Check out all of my costume posts here if you don’t believe me or read my guide on how to style a wig. So when I found out about the Wiggin Out Party at Eiffel Society I thought “what a great way to spend a Friday night!” Now the real question is which wig to wear. Don’t own a wig? Shame on you! Mention the Eiffel party at Fi Fi’s and get 10% off the wig of your choice.

Three from my *ahem* vast collection.

Not your normal fashion event: Gris Gris Fashion Lab

Lately I’ve really been into events that stand out from the rest of the same old, same old format. One that recently caught my eye is the Gris Gris Lab  Fashion Lab at the Burrito Juke Joint followed by a set from DJ Soul Sister. It promises to be an interesting evening featuring styles from Fari Nzinga, BlackPowerFlower, and Gia M. Hamilton.

The Burrito Juke Joint opens at 6pm with the Fashion Lab happening from 8-10pm. DJ Soul Sister will be spinning her brand of groove from 8pm until midnight. If you are looking to have a little fun and find an outfit for Essence Fest there is no other place to be this July 1st. Visit their Facebook event page to RSVP and learn more about the Gris Gris Lab on their website.

What I Wore: Wish for a sneak peek

I’m rather excited to give y’all a sneak peek of what I will be wearing for a bloggers feature in the Times Picayune! Every month the newspaper puts out a monthly style magazine Wish and I’m thrilled to be featured in it for a second time! Along with five other bloggers I will be sharing my must have summer items and I can’t wait to see the final product in July.

Granted the feature will have better lighting and I will actually be wearing heels but I wanted to show off the great dress that I picked for my portrait. Pardon the terrible night lighting, after my fun professional photo shoot on Magazine Street the husband and I decided to dine at Freret Street’s newest restaurant, Ancora, then we headed downtown to enjoy a nightcap at Bar Tonique followed by meeting a friend at the Apple Barrel on Frenchman Street.
Check out the spread by picking up the July Wish the Friday after July 4th or by viewing it online.

Southern Street Style: Seen on Magazine Street

I love this week’s pick for southern street style. Every summer I go into survival mode and keep cool vs. creating stylish outfits. The only way to beat the heat and humidity is by having a few reliable wardrobe staples to get you from here through October. I like to call these pieces my summer survival uniform.

Liz snapped a picture of this lovely lady and I imagine she’ll get a lot of wear out of her wonderfully wide leg, wispy trousers these next few months. Throwing on some tried and true accessories adds a personal touch to any outfit and I love how she keeps the silhouette simple but piles on the details with her jewelry and bag.

Southern Street Style

It is no secret that we  love a good festival in the South and we dress accordingly for them.  This past Sunday Liz captured a lovely lady in her best hot weather wear at the 38th annual Greece on the Bayou
