Sugar Coating It

One of the great things about living in the deep South is having mild winters, a small trade off for our blazing hot and humid summers. Last month the Southern Fashion Bloggers did a group post on LBDs and we had such a good time doing it that I decided to try it again with coats. Of course that decision was made two weeks ago when it was actually cold. I literally threw my coat on for the pictures then took it off.

Can y’all believe that I don’t own a black coat? Sure I’ve got blazers but a somber toned wardrobe staple is what I’m sorely lacking. This kelly green coat from Banana Republic is a favorite that I’ve had for a few years now. It’s a lot of fun even if it doesn’t match everything I own and I really don’t care since it brightens up the dullest, dreariest of days.

Notice how it’s a little big on me? That’s because it is so damn warm I didn’t need a sweater, just a t-shirt and a silk skirt with wool tights thrown underneath. Yea, welcome to Louisiana winters.
